I want to take care of my sexual health but I don’t know where to start. Are there any good resources providing best practice recommendations about safe sex and contraceptive choices?

It’s okay to feel overwhelmed or lost when it’s your first time exploring and learning about your body, sexuality, and sexual health. From learning about safer sex to deciding on a contraceptive that works best for you, it’s important to access credible resources in order to make informed decisions.

A good place to start is the free, comprehensive, and expert-led online Masterclass by That Sassy Thing on Sex Ed Basics. This Masterclass will help you take charge of your sexual health by guiding you to get to know your body better and by introducing you to tips, tools, and techniques that ensure your well-being. However, this course is not a replacement for professional medical advice, and if you have specific concerns, you should reach out to a relevant, trusted healthcare provider who can better assist you with the same. You could even follow reliable educators on social media, or read books about sexuality, intimacy, and related topics by experts.

Remember to keep having conversations with yourself about your sexual health. It might sound a bit abstract at first, but journaling or chatting with your bestie is one way you can do it. You could start by answering the following prompts in as many or as few words as you’d like:

What does being sexually healthy mean for me?

How am I looking after my sexual health?

How is my partner looking after their sexual health?

What are my boundaries when it comes to my sexual health?
